Randy Prunty grew up in West Virginia and North Carolina and has lived in Atlanta and Boulder. He thought all poetry was boring until, at the age of 40, he happened upon experimental poetry via Sun & Moon’s Gertrude Stein Awards in Innovative American Poetry. He quickly found like-minded poets in the Atlanta Poets Group where he attended weekly meetings for the next 8 years.
Prunty has poetry in print journals including: New Orleans Review, Fence, Upstairs at Duroc, Combo, Parentheses, Cranky, Tripwire, Fascicle, New American Writing, 108, Gestalten, Mirage #4/Period(ical), Brown Box and Volt. Outside of poetry, Prunty has been a competitive amateur athlete as a runner and cyclist, and is a life-long birder. Among his many jobs, Prunty has been quality control supervisor, painter, office manager, and cross-country coach, as well as a marriage and family therapist and librarian. Prunty now enjoys being a bus driver in Marin and San Francisco. He lives in Pinole, California with his wife, poet Elizabeth Robinson.
