We initiate, this morning, what we hope to make regular weekly feature from Lavender Ink \/ Di\u00e1logos, a mini-magazine with a poem or two, a quick announcement, or other oddments. This morning, two poems.<\/p>\n

\n Mark has brought to the press two of his own books and a translation<\/a>, and is one of our consultants in matters of translation and contemporary poetry. Now emeritus from the New School in NYC, Mark lives and writes in Oaxaca, Mexico, with his wife, artist Katherine Koch, who did the artwork for the covers.<\/p>\n

I rush the stairs like a
\n caffeinated asterisk, rattle\u00a0
\n dinner plates in bas-relief.
\n This is a room of miniature dioramas: Acropolis, Big Ben,
\n Valley of the Kings
\n demurely lit in obsessive detail.<\/p>\n

Very few people know it exists.<\/p>\n

In this attic I am giant.
\n This attic has a sky.<\/p>\n

With satin hammer, rowdy letters,\u00a0
\n I shatter glass partitions, swinging\u00a0
\n between story and a secret.<\/p>\n

Someday the Eiffel Tower will be mine.<\/p>\n
