Shedding the rotten words pulled up by the torrent, in order to \u201cto find \/\u00a0a space to reconstruct the \/ sentence.\u201d What role does language have in face\u00a0of catastrophe? No longer able to count on words, the poet refocusses attention\u00a0outward, to go on or into: \u201cnot a home but a \/ way to become someone, \/ the prairie\u00a0is a place to listen \/ with green absence.\u201d A letting go, not into despair, but toward\u00a0evolution: \u201cwords, like guides \/ to a city we\u2019ve never seen.\u201d\u00a0<br \/>\n\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavenderink.org\/site\/books\/marthe-reed\/\"><strong>Marthe Reed<\/strong><\/a>, author of <em>Ark Hive: a Memoir of South Louisiana<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>William Allegrezza is \u201clooking outward, not inward,\u201d \u201csearching the stones for\u00a0life,\u201d \u201ctrying to \/ build grottos \/ with story, \u201c and alert \u201cas the patterns of \/ chaos\u00a0emerge.\u201d This is a book by an experimental poet who eschews capitalization but\u00a0not sense, linear narrative but not signifi cant story, allusion but not reference. He\u00a0tells us, in a brilliant pun that helps us understand the \u201centhymic logic\u201d of this\u00a0book, that meanings \u201callude\u201d him.
